We had not moved house for 25 years, so the whole experience was new and scary. Our biggest asset, which we felt was such a beautiful home, suddenly felt like a liability when the first viewer did not put an offer on it. Luckily Cheryl was there to re-assure us and guide us through the roller coaster that was the sale of our home and purchase of a new property. Before showing viewers round Cheryl made sure she knew our home and its pros and cons and when she showed viewers round she was able to answer their queries efficiently and professionally. When an offer was made on our home Cheryl kept us informed by letter, phone and copied us in all email correspondence back and forth.

In 2014, I was obliged, by the unexpected claiming of a break clause, to make a hasty move from a comfortable flat in Montserrat Road, where I was happily settled, to an interim residence in Norroy Road. I was left with five months to find somewhere else to live.I am aged 84, single, and without family nearby, so therefore needed help. I decided to contact Age UK, who referred me to Cheryl Carter, the founder and motivating force of Every Home Matters (UK) Limited. From thereon, Cheryl devoted her time and energy to my problem.
As I have been a self-employed writer, author and publisher all my working life and have myself employed a considerable number and variety of people it would be obvious that I should have some knowledge and judgement of human abilities and talents.
I can honestly say that in over fifty years I have not come upon anyone with Cheryl’s range of admirable qualities. As well as being incredibly energetic and extremely well-organised, she is quick witted, imaginative, cheerful, kind, honest, patient, and – most important – has a complete all round knowledge of the exacting and stressful ins-and-outs of moving house. Nothing seems too much trouble for her, and no problem seems to deter her.
I have been a hoarder for many years after several deeply sad & devastating losses. Recently in desperation & with the very real possibility of losing my home I contacted Every Home Matters. I spoke to a lady with a kind voice, called Cheryl, who immediately reassured me & put me at ease. She came to see me and without pressure or judgement helped me to declutter my home. I took a gamble asking Every Home Matters to help me as I was not sure my wife would be co-operative, but I was suffocating in our cluttered house and it was imperative to get some de-cluttering help, fast. After my long illness, my exhausted wife and I had become overwhelmed with the management of our family home. With engaging and warm personalities, they sifted and sorted through a seemingly insurmountable collection of possessions with my dear wife and created living spaces that hadn’t existed for years. Their clever attention to health and safety issues allowed my wife to reconsider her living environment and everyone got busy to make our lives comfortable and bearable again. They even sorted out a great discounted rate for us at the self-storage depot. I can see my wife’s relief and I am so genuinely happy and thankful for the small miracle that occurred over three days. They could not have been more sensitive, strong, helpful or efficient.
