We had not moved house for 25 years, so the whole experience was new and scary. In 2014, I was obliged, by the unexpected claiming of a break clause, to make a hasty move from a comfortable flat in Montserrat Road, where I was happily settled, to an interim residence in Norroy Road. I was left with five months to find somewhere else to live.

I am aged 84, single, and without family nearby, so therefore needed help. I decided to contact Age UK, who referred me to Cheryl Carter, the founder and motivating force of Every Home Matters (UK) Limited. From thereon, Cheryl devoted her time and energy to my problem.

As I have been a self-employed writer, author and publisher all my working life and have myself employed a considerable number and variety of people it would be obvious that I should have some knowledge and judgement of human abilities and talents.
I can honestly say that in over fifty years I have not come upon anyone with Cheryl’s range of admirable qualities.
